Visit to Alice Springs and Darwin
Posted Saturday, 21 February 2009 By David Burston
Pauline and I have had a great time visiting Alice Springs and Darwin, Thursday 12th to Monday 22nd Feb.
We had 12 members to training in Alice on Sunday and 14 in Darwin on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. There was lots of discussion and contributions from all involved.
Congratulations to Alice Springs for having 6 visitors to their meeting with 5 wishing to join and to Darwin for 2 visitors, both joining.
We all have our issues in the Northern clubs with having short term members and it is great see these clubs that have made new membership as part of their expected activities.
Alice Springs is fired up to have a memorable Northern Division Conference 26th&28th March 2010. Put it in your diary as your holiday break for next year.
We had never been to Alice and we loved it, the majestic McDonnell ranges to the East and West, spectacular gorges, river beds and passes through the ranges, a lap around Ayres Rock and the Olgas, indigenous art by the thousands, the Desert Park centre (a day in itself), star filled sky's and sunsets. Want an amazing holiday, pencil it in your diaries today.
Many thanks to members who went out of their way to accommodate us including Murray Cosson who met us at the Alice airport, Jose the 85th birthday girl who put on a welcoming dinner, the Alice members and Rama for taking us out to dinner and all the members who gave up their valuable time for participating in the training sessions, thank you all.
We were able to learn from the experience of the NT clubs and introduce them to some of our FNQ clubs experiences so it was a very much a two way exchange with all participants walking away enriched.
A big thank you to all the NT Toastmasters,it is great to see such enthusiastic clubs, Pauline and David

Northern Division Conference

This was my first conference and I enjoyed it immensely. I want to say thanks to everyone who organised and participated in the event. I learnt so much more about Toastmasters, met some wonderful people and enjoyed the fantastic speakers.
